Sylvia’s faith was of utmost importance to her and gave her strength to the very end.  Sylvia and Cecil were long time members of First Baptist Church of Alexandria before Cecil’s retirement, and are currently members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

In 2021, Sylvia and Cecil moved from Fairfax County to Prince William County to be closer to family.  As a career educator and minister’s wife, Sylvia impacted the lives of so many.  Her presence on this earth will be greatly missed!

Sylvia was born August 3, 1938 to Raymond and Margaret Bible in Roanoke, VA. She was an only child.  She met the love of her life, William Cecil Frazier, as a child in their hometown.  Sylvia and Cecil went on their first date when she was only 13 years old and married him when she was 17 years old.  They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary at the time of her passing.

After high school, Sylvia and Cecil attended Bluefield College together. After their first year of college, Sylvia married Cecil and they lived in a trailer on the Bluefield College Campus.  When they left Bluefield, Sylvia began working in business and putting Cecil through school, taking them to Richmond, VA and Raleigh, NC.  They returned to Salem, VA after Cecil finished school and Sylvia became a full-time stay-at-home mom.  In 1971, Sylvia and Cecil moved to Richmond, VA. In then in 1975, Sylvia and Cecil moved to Northern Virginia where Sylvia continued studies in education at Virginia Commonwealth University, George Mason University and Marymount University, receiving her Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree.

Sylvia became a career educator in 1977 and retired from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in 2003.  In her work with FCPS, she served as a teacher in kindergarten, first and third grades.  As a master teacher, Sylvia spent the last years of her career working in the central office supporting teachers and administrators in the Office of Employee Performance.

After her retirement, Sylvia and Cecil travelled the world.  Family was the center of Sylvia’s world and she was happiest when all of her children gathered together for any occasion.  She loved traveling, boating, camping, family picnics and cook outs and one of her favorite family gatherings was coming together at the beach every year.
